.Discussion…
A line of convective clouds just south of the Samoa Island chain
is visible on satellite imagery. This feature is associated with
a trough that will be monitored over the next few days.
Additionally, the upper air sounding from this afternoon depicts a
moist surface to mid-level profile, suggesting a build up of
moisture as the trough moves nearby. Expect numerous showers and
light winds to persist through Monday morning as the trough
lingers over the area. However, the potential for flash flooding
remains low, as the system appears to be a weak.

A high pressure system building near New Zealand will bring south-
southeast trade winds back to the territory Monday night.
Although the aforementioned trough is forecast to move further
north, moisture associated with it could extend over the
territory, maintaining numerous showers through Wednesday night.
Breezy conditions are also expected during this timeframe and
will persist until Friday as the high pressure system moves
farther east. East winds of 10 to 15 mph with scattered showers
are expected thereafter.

Latest wave heights observed at the PacIOOS buoy remain within
advisory thresholds (near 8 feet). Peak periods of up to 15
seconds from a south swell are also being observed, suggesting
high surf and strong rip currents for south-facing shores. Expect
these conditions to persist through tonight, before gradually
diminishing. Ideal ocean conditions are expected from Sunday
through Monday as winds and swell subside. However, strengthening
trade winds Monday night are forecast to elevate seas once again.
Expect rough ocean conditions to persist through the end of the
forecast period.
