Flood Advisory issued July 24 at 6:38PM MDT until July 24 at 9:45PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM

* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Southeastern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico…

* WHEN…Until 945 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 638 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Corrales, Vista Hills, Enchanted Hills,
Rio Rancho City Center, Sandia Pueblo and Coronado State
Monument.
– This includes the following highways…
Highway 550 between Mile Markers 1 and 7. Interstate 25 between
Mile Markers 238 and 240…and near Mile Marker 242.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
