[UPDATE] Flood Advisory

Flood Advisory issued July 24 at 8:58AM EDT until July 24 at 12:00PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following counties, Beaufort, Hyde and Tyrrell.

* WHEN…Until noon EDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 858 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of
rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Fairfield, Swindell Fork, Gull Rock, Scranton, Ponzer, New
Holland, Rose Bay, Nebraska, Leechville, Lake Landing, Lake
Mattamuskeet and Swan Quarter Ferry Terminal.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
