A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas…
Atchafalaya and East Cote Blanche Bays…
Coastal waters from Lower Atchafalaya River to Intracoastal City
LA out 20 NM…
Vermilion and West Cote Blanche Bays…

At 1028 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 10 nm southeast of West Cote
Blanche Bay to near Point Au Fer Island, moving south at 25 knots.

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.

Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
