Special Weather Statement issued July 19 at 6:30PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC

At 630 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Carthage, moving east at 10 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Sanford, Carthage, Whispering Pines, Broadway, Vass, Cameron, Lemon
Springs, Gum Springs, Raven Rock State Park, and Olivia.

This includes US 1 between Mile Markers 69 and 71.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
