Special Weather Statement issued July 19 at 3:27PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC

At 326 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles northwest of Mount Olive to 6 miles
west of Godwin. Movement was east at 10 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Fayetteville, Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Walnut Creek, Godwin, Eastover,
Newton Grove, Wade, Falcon, and Linden.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 65 and 55.
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 336 and 357.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential downpours are also
expected with these storms, which could greatly reduce visibilities
and make driving difficult.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
