Special Weather Statement issued July 17 at 3:17PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM

At 317 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 13
miles southeast of Elkins, or 41 miles east of Roswell, moving south
at 5 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Mainly rural areas of East Central Chaves County.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
