Special Weather Statement issued July 15 at 12:38AM EDT by NWS Caribou ME
At 1237 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles northeast of Dickey to 17 miles
southwest of Estcourt Station to 24 miles north of Saint Pamphile.
Movement was southeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Allagash, Deboullie Mountain, New Canada,
Allagash Township, Dickey, Wallagrass, Winterville, Saint Francis,
Saint John, and Soldier Pond.
This includes the following highways…
US Highway 1 near Fort Kent.
State Highway 11 between Winterville and Fort Kent.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
