At 1224 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 50 nm west of Amelia City to 52
nm west of Palm Valley to 25 nm northeast of Suwannee River, moving
east at 30 knots.
Based on current timing, this line of storms will be moving offshore
of the local northeast Florida Atlantic coast between 2 pm and 4 pm,
with gusts of at least 30 knots likely with storms as well as
frequent lightning and low visibility in heavy rainfall.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.
These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30
knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine
warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms
reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for
shore before these strong thunderstorms arrives.
