At 615 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles south of
Clayton, or 8 miles north of Smithfield, moving east at 50 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include…
Smithfield, Clayton, Wendell, Kenly, Emit, and Flowers.
This includes the following highways…
Interstate 95 near Mile Marker 107.
NC Highway 264 near Mile Marker 21.
Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
