Flash Flood Warning issued July 7 at 8:54PM EDT until July 7 at 10:15PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC
At 854 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported water flowing across
the roadway and vehicles stranded in flood waters. Between 1 and 3
inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no
additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE…Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, RDU International,
Morrisville, Bethesda, Parkwood, Research Triangle, Gorman,
Carpenter, William B Umstead State Park, Rollingview Marina, Falls
Lake, Eno River State Park, Falls Lake State Rec Area, Falls Lake
Boat Ramp, Jordan Lake and Purnell.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
