Special Marine Warning issued July 7 at 7:07PM EDT until July 7 at 7:30PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC
For the following areas…
Pamlico and Pungo Rivers…
At 707 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Engelhard to near The Vicinity Of Belhaven,
moving south at 10 knots.
HAZARD…Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and small hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include…
The Vicinity Of Slades Creek, The Vicinity Of Belhaven, and Crabtree
Bay.
Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, small hail, high waves, dangerous
lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
