Special Weather Statement issued July 6 at 7:25PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA

At 725 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Oilville, or 8 miles east of Goochland, moving east at 10 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph, heavy rain, and frequent
lightning.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Reduced visibility and minor flooding
possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central
Goochland, northwestern Henrico and west central Hanover Counties,
including the following locations… Rockville, Short Pump, and
Johnsons Springs.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
