Special Weather Statement issued July 5 at 1:18PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV

At 117 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Lubeck, or near Parkersburg, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Parkersburg, Belpre, Elizabeth, Vienna, Washington, Mineralwells,
Lubeck, North Hills, Walker, Waverly, Freeport, Blennerhassett,
Davisville, Greencastle, and Rockport.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 162 and 180.
Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 20.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This or other storms in the area may intensify, so be certain to
monitor local radio stations and available television stations for
additional information and possible warnings from the National
Weather Service.
