Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 5 at 8:03PM EDT until July 5 at 8:15PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
At 803 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over North Potomac,
or over Gaithersburg, moving northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
light objects may become projectiles.
Locations impacted include…
Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Olney, Aspen Hill, Potomac, North
Bethesda, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, Redland, Rossmoor,
Wheaton-Glenmont, Wheaton, Glenmont, Darnestown, Derwood, Garrett
Park, Washington Grove, and Norbeck.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
