Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 4:42PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN

At 441 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Verona, moving northwest at 5 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Tupelo, Pontotoc, Verona, Trace State Park, Tombigbee State Park,
Saltillo, Shannon, Plantersville, New Harmony, Troy, Furrs,
Nettleton, Sherman, Blue Springs, Endville, Chiwapa, Flowerdale, Old
Union, Nixon, and Beech Springs.

This includes Interstate 22 in Mississipppi between mile markers 70
and 91.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for
northeastern Mississippi.
