Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 5:16PM EDT by NWS Morristown TN

At 515 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles northwest of Murphy, moving west at 10 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Hiawasse Dam, Violet, and Unaka.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
southwestern North Carolina.
