Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 2:15PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

At 215 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles southeast of Franklin, or 6 miles northwest of Highlands,
moving southwest at 10 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Franklin, Dillard, Sky Valley, Highlands, Ellijay, Scaly Mountain,
Otto, Cullasaja, and Rainbow Springs.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
northeastern Georgia…and western North Carolina.
