Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 5:24AM EDT by NWS Upton NY

At 524 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Rocky Point to near
Captree State Park. Movement was southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Islip, Brentwood, Riverhead, Centereach, Shirley, Medford, Hauppauge,
Ronkonkoma, Manorville, Stony Brook, Patchogue, Middle Island, Port
Jefferson, Wading River, and Center Moriches.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
