Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 4:18PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC
At 417 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms from near Micro to 11 miles west of Goldsboro, moving
east at 25 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Kenly, Princeton,
Pikeville, Eureka, Seven Springs, and Mar-Mac.
This includes Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 107 and 105.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
