Flood Advisory issued June 27 at 9:18PM EDT until June 27 at 11:15PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following county, Carteret.
* WHEN…Until 1115 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 918 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Morehead City, Harkers Island, Straits, Marshallberg, Michael
J Smith Airport, Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, Gloucester
and Crab Point Village.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
