Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 27 at 5:40PM MDT until June 27 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Rapid City SD
At 540 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles northeast of
Smithwick, or 19 miles east of Hot Springs, moving northeast at 35
mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include…
Hot Springs, Oral, Oelrichs, Buffalo Gap, Smithwick, Prairie Winds
Casino, Hay Canyon Butte, Angostura Reservoir, Maverick Junction,
Cold Brook Reservoir and southwestern Wind Cave National Park.
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large
hail.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM MDT Saturday for a
portion of southwest South Dakota.
