Special Weather Statement issued June 12 at 4:28PM EDT by NWS Albany NY

At 428 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Pine Plains, or 10 miles east of Rhinebeck, moving southeast at 20
mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Pine Plains, Bethel, Smithfield, Lafayetteville, Northeast Center,
McIntyre, Hammertown, Attlebury, Stissing, Mount Ross, Perry Corners,
Shekomeko, Bangall, Jackson Corners, Pulvers Corners, Irondale, and
Northeast.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
east central New York.
