Blizzard Warning issued February 16 at 1:38AM AKST until February 18 at 3:00PM AKST by NWS Fairbanks AK
* WHAT…Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
between 6 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
* WHERE…Bering Strait Coast, Shishmaref, Southern Seward Peninsula
Coast, St Lawrence Island, and Yukon Delta Coast.
* WHEN…From 3 PM this afternoon to 3 PM AKST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could result
in power outages.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heaviest snowfall potential will be on the
south side of the Seward Peninsula.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle.
