Winter Storm Watch issued February 15 at 9:23AM AKST until February 19 at 3:00AM AKST by NWS Fairbanks AK
* WHAT…Blizzard conditions possible. Total snow accumulations
between 4 to 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph.
* WHERE…Baldwin Peninsula, Kivalina and Red Dog Dock, Lower Kobuk
Valley, Noatak Valley, and Northern Seward Peninsula.
* WHEN…From late Monday night through late Wednesday night.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heavy snow and very strong east-southeast
winds are expected with the passage of a front Monday night
through Tuesday night. Significant blowing and drifting snow is
possible as well as the chance for whiteout conditions. After the
initial front exits Tuesday night, there may be additional periods
of snow and lighter winds through Wednesday.
