DAWSON, FURNAS, GOSPER, SHERMAN AND VALLEY COUNTIES…
The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Fire
Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.
* WINDS…For today, southwesterly winds between 10 to 15 MPH with
gusts as high as 25 to 30 MPH. For Tuesday, southwest winds
between 20 to 30 MPH with gusts up to 30 to 45 MPH.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…As low as around 15 to 25 percent for this
afternoon, and as low as around 10 to 20 percent for Tuesday
afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Any fire that develops will spread quickly. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
